Goals & future activities

  • Identification of legislation / regulation harmonisation issues within the EU and between the EU and trading countries.
  • Method database: collection of validated methods that are currently used to detect the authenticity of the following commodities:

              * dairy products (milk, butter, cheese, yoghurt, ice cream)

              * cereals and cereal products (wheat and barley, pasta and semolina,  

                 basmati rice)

              * rice

              * wine and alcoholic beverages (beer)

              * meat and meat products (meat spreads and pâtés; salami & sausages;

                 smoked products vs liquid smoke added meat)

              * fish and fish products

              * honey

              * vegetable oils and fats

  • Establishment of validation guidelines for qualitative methods applicable in the various fields of application.
  • Interaction & meetings with stakeholders from industry / companies.
  • Contacts with relevant CEN/AOAC/CODEX/ISO/FAO committees and/or contacts with commodity specific umbrella organisations (such as the International Honey Commission, European Quality Control System for Juices and Nectars from Fruit & Vegetables) to collect further information, to sensitize them on what the WG is doing and on the problem of methods validation and possibly establish collaborations.
  • Strengthening of already existing links between MoniQA and other projects such as TRACE, so that its outcomes may be promoted with a view to harmonising methods at an early stage and sharing authenticity data.
  • Work for the input of information collected within the Food Authenticity WG into the MoniQA database.
