MoniQA Food Allergens meets in Hamburg

On 30./31. July 2009 the members of the MoniQA Working Group on Food Allergens led by Bert Popping (Eurofins) and Clare Mills (IFR) met in Hamburg at Eurofins. The members of the WG discussed the use of different methods for allergen detection focussed of the Mass spectrometry (MS) technique and the improvement of the extraction methods. Further the WG discussed the forthcoming milk allergen validation study. As study director for the validation study the group unanimously appointed Bert Popping, who will be supported by Sandra Kerbach (Eurofins). Currently, reference material incurred with milk allergen is tested in a pre trial. The full validation study with 20 participants will start in December 2009.
