The MoniQA Working Group Food Allergens led by Bert Pöpping (Eurofins) and Clare Mills (IFR) invited interested stakeholders from food industry, authorities, consumer organisations and method providers to participate in a special stakeholder event. The event was held in close connection to the EuroPrevall project meeting on May 14, 2009 in Vienna.
During the meeting, representatives of the Working Group (WG) Food Allergens gave an overview on the past, current and future activities of the WG and presented some of the achieved deliverables such as the database on allergen detection methods or the publication of the WG in “Quality Assurance and Safety of Crops & Foods” (see below).
In the second part of the meeting the WG asked stakeholders to provide feedback on recent achievements as well as discuss further requirements and visions for future developments in this field. The participants discussed the importance and feasibility of the work to be undertaken by the WG. This fertile discussion generated useful recommendations for the future work of the WG and significantly improved the intense collaboration with the stakeholder groups.
