Harmonisation challenges within the EU and between EU and trading countries

Concerns related to the different legislation/ regulations and practise in horizontal issues (e.g., sampling, measurement uncertainty) in Europe, and other regions and countries (e.g. Americas, Asia) have been identified and problems associated with interpretation of analytical results and compliance criteria practise considered. The information/ data will help to fill gaps and needs for comparison of analytical results at the European and international levels, and support global harmonisation guidelines. This task is in WP4 but the greater proportion of input has been provided by the MoniQA Working Groups (WGs) focussing on specific areas such as food allergy, mycotoxins and microbiological contamination. In addition to an initial publication (Oreopoulou et al. 2009 QAS Volume 1, Issue 1) a summary will be submitted for peer-reviewed publication by the end of 2011.
