MoniQA training in Hanoi and Chengdu

From November 1-5 and 8-12 experts from BOKU University (AT), RTD Services (AT) and IFR (UK) provided a wide range of training courses in Hanoi (VN) and Chengdu (CN). Classes consisted of 15-40 participants (both foreign and local). Ph.D students, lecturers and industry were represented. The courses focused on the following topics:

In the workshop on “train the trainers – a (truly) practical approach”, the concept of e-learning and its useful application in the MoniQA context was introduced to current and future lecturers in both countries. One outcome of this workshop was to translate an existing course in English into Vietnamese and Indonesian language and make it available especially to SMEs in these countries.

One of the core MoniQA topics was addressed in the training on applied rapid methods and hygienic design. Gerhard Schleining and Andreas Höhl from BOKU supported by lecturers from the local host universities shared their experience concerning this topic with the participants.

The first three training days were followed by a “one-day training on research management”, held by Rainer Svacinka from RTD Services. The participants were given an overview on Research Project Management from the planning of a Project to the close down. This was completed by group-work where the participants got the chance to directly apply their gained knowledge by planning their own projects and sharing their insights with the group.

IFR trainer Siân Astley introduced the participants to the world of communication, teaching them on soft skills which are absolutely essential in everyday research work, especially in a globalised research world with a high demand of properly communicated top level research in areas like food safety.

A big THANK YOU to the trainers and the local host organizations HUT and SCU!
